I am disgusted beyond words right now. There are ways to do animal research without being so cruel. Although I'm not a big fan of animal research in general. People think it is ok to do these things to animals, but not people. It sickens me that people think they are so superior to the other life forms on this planet that they hurt and kill them with no care. People need to show some respect when working with animals, for science, farming or just with their pets. Animals feel pain and experience psychological trauma.
Wrong, so wrong. Sweet, trusting animals...My Guide Dog...and my old cat...makes me want to go over there and....God help those poor, sweet babies*meaning the animals, of course*

Here is a copy of what is on the website.
undercover investigation conducted by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) has exposed a world of nightmares for companion animals who are born, experimented on and killed in labs.
An investigator for the BUAV, known as Susie, conducted an eight month investigation at MSD Animal Health that exposed the horrors nearly newborn puppies and kittens are forced to endure in the name of science.
The research center, which is owned by the U.S.-based pharmaceutical giant Merck, conducts experiments for animal vaccines. The BUAV, however, believes non-animal alternatives could, and should, be used instead. For many who oppose vivisection, the use of companion animals may not be any more offensive than experimenting on any other species, but the BUAV believes that its findings will come as a shock to millions of people who consider cats and dogs to be part of their family and hopes to raise awareness about the cruelty of experiments that continue to be conducted under a shroud of secrecy.
According to the BUAV, some of the many issues the investigation exposed included tests being carried out on puppies as young as four weeks and kittens as young as eight weeks before they were killed and dissected and nursing mothers being senselessly killed after their young were taken away too soon, while some of the other animals who were used were “allowed to suffer the full extent of the symptoms of serious and even deadly diseases.”
One particularly heartbreaking scene shows a tiny beagle puppy who is screaming in distress as a researcher attempts to deliver a lethal injection, but is unable to get a vein because they’ve been so damaged.
“This is a secret the research industry would never want to be released into the public domain. Millions of families throughout the UK who share their homes and lives with cats and dogs will be appalled by these revelations. It is unacceptable, not only that these animals are suffering and dying in this way, but that many of them could have been released into loving homes instead of being killed and discarded for convenience sake,” said BUAV Chief Executive Michelle Thew in a statement.
While many of these animals could have been rescued, simply killing them and tossing their bodies in the trash is easier than making any effort to find them homes. Susie successfully rescued and placed two beagles, Bonnie and Billie, whose puppies were killed when they were a mere six weeks old. She also rescued another puppy, Oliver, who she kept.
While they will have a chance to explore the world beyond the walls of a lab and live out their lives as members of their new families, millions of others will not be so lucky.
During the investigation the death toll at this lab reached 92 beagle puppies, 10 adult nursing female beagles, at least 15 kittens and an unknown number of rabbits, calves and chickens. Unfortunately, these numbers are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the total number of animals used in experiments.
According to the Sunday Express, not a single project license application was refused by the Home Office for tests on cats and dogs in 2012. That year 3,214 dogs and 202 cats were used in tests.
This investigation and others, including the one at Imperial College London, highlight the need to increase transparency and move quickly towards alternatives. Despite the government’s pledge to reduce the number of animal experiments in 2010, the numbers continue to rise along with opposition. The latest numbers available show that nearly 4.1 million animals were used in experiments in the UK in 2012, which is the highest total since 1982. Since just 2011, there has been an increase of 317,200 procedures.
In February the government drew more criticism after releasing its non-plan of a plan to lower numbers without a timeline or strategy for doing so. At least after hearing about the latest investigation Crime Prevention Minister Norman Baker has asked for further investigation into the findings of a number of unannounced inspections that were conducted at this lab last year by the Home Office.

Oooooooooo... those disgusting cuntworms! How could anyone be so cruel! Doing this to animals is bad enough in and of itself, and an absolute no no in my book. But two-week-old little puppies and kittens? These shit-faced savages ought to burn in hell for what they're doing! People who do things like this aren't people. They're monsters, and they deserve to have everything they're doing to these poor things done to them ten fold, and not be allowed to die until they've suffered to the point of absolute insanity! Then left to die slow, horrible, agonizing and messy deaths!
Where is this campaign that will help stop this shit?
To sign the petition, go to

...wow... Just, no words!
Wow. disgusting. You have to be a born sociopath to even entertain working in that field. Fucked, up!!! I couldnt' even finish reading that. I stopped at the words of the little beagle screaming in pain--I can't believe this shit. Monsters, not people. What have these animals ever done to them? Greedy, stupid, senseless, heartless bastards.
Oh my fucking god!... I read it all and this shit has my eyes watery... I honestly don't understand these miserable sons of bitches. I can't wrap my head around how they can perform these atrocities without paying for it? Poor, poor animals, ugh. Thanks imp, will sign the petition. Maybe we should conduct an experiment where we chase these monsters and inject them where no vain is? Fuck! ... :'(
I am going to wait for the flame wars...
This is appalling, yes. Terrible for the animals, and should be terrible for the people who are doing this.
however, I am not in the UK...
It isn't that I don't care, or anything like that... but my question is this: is this happening in my country, my city? Is there something I can do locally to stop this?
I am against signing petitions simply based out of outrage (though I am outraged); so Impie, with no disrespect intended, short of feeling horrified, what can those of us on the ground around the world do besides sign petitions that no one will read or care about?
Kate
I see what you mean. Still, it's better than doing nothing at all.
Only if the petition works. Like Kate said, petitions are not binding and don't get read.
people sign petitions and think they've done something. More often than not they just deluded themselves into thinking they did something, and that they are a better person for it.
Her questions are merited, though. I don't have any answers being as I am not in the animal rights community.
I think most humans would find the above to be appalling.
So one would need to do research to see what this organization is and does, if it's another PETA, or what. You can see similar stories and worse on PETA's website. yet a story like this without something people can tangibly do is useless.
Flame me worse than Kate: I've offended the sensibility of the idea that being outraged at something wrong makes you a better person. Because I simply don't buy it.
We see a lot of these outrage stories going around on the Internet only to prove later the sources weren't what they said they were.
Anyone else remember the so-called Clinton Body count, from the mid 90s? With all these so-called credible sources with fancy agency names, that turned out to be ex-convicts and corrupt state troopers now doing time? But yes and oh my were there many outraged hot-blooded souls about that affair. I was a young fool and so was among them. Fool I still may be at times, but I'm not that young anymore and so don't have that as an excuse.
The UK has some of the strictest anti-cruelty laws. Unlike the U.S., these laws get enforced nationwide. This was my first red flag. The UK would be the least likely place for something like this to crop up.
And, about the employee who was trying to deliver the lethal injection:
Would you have rather that infant puppy remain alive and in terrible pain? What if that employee's job was to euthanize, and that was all she or he did? Yes, there are as many women as men in these labs: I've known a few people who worked in medical labs, and had serious objections to things that were going on, but were also aware of the incredible human suffering they were doing away with.
Anyway, what if this woman or man hit the puppy over the head instead, to make its end quicker? Then a story would get released something like this:
Lab employee hits poor baby beagle over the head and kills it.
I think we'll all be better off once we can virtually simulate tests, but we are a long way off from that yet. And this fundamentalist Christian idea that people are doing this out of a totally depraved torture mindset is laughable.
Even the activist and anthropologist Jane Goodall talks about this in her latest boo, which is on Bard by the way, and the conflicts people in that industry are dealigh with on a daily basis.
Like so man other human things, there's a lot of room between the extremes.
I'll take this a step further:
On this site and many others you can find people who are doing way more than signing a petition or getting outraged.
Did your pet come from an animal shelter? Rescue shelter? Adopted from someone who didn't know what to do with it? That's considerably more than signing a petition.
If you really want to do something about this, do two things:
Stop using any products who benefitted from animal testing, and forego any medical treatments who benefitted from animal testing.
I've known a very few people who do this. They tend to be on the fringes of society though.
Agreed, Leo,
While I do not always know where to look to see if certain products use animal testing, I have adopted two cats from a humane society. They have both added so much to my and Mr. Crazy's lives, and we adopted two kitties who were previously strays. Those who rescue animals with behavior issues and retrain them to be happy well-adjusted pets deserve our utmost respect.
Kate
Okay. I have to ask. Did any of you, especially those of you who don't believe this is real shit goin' on, actually click on the link instead of reading what another user posted here? While more convenient for others to be able to read, it's less informative.
In the actual article, there is a youtube video. And I have to tell you, I'm crying as I'm writing this, cause I can't believe what I just saw.
This is a documentary-style video. And you can hear the voices of these heartless bitches talkin' as they're killin' and butchering these poor beagle puppies. And as for the one they were giving a lethal injection? You who can't see should either have someone watch it with you if you can stomach. This bitch couldn't get the injection to work, so she stabbed that puppy to death as he screamed! How can anyone call that mercy? I'm sorry, but those assholes are psycopathic cuntworms who ought to have tis shit done to them. And for the record, petitions do get read because I've signed several myself that have made news.
as for what you can do here, there are a number of petitions against animal cruelty in league with the BUAV. This shit is real, and US-based companies like Merck, whose products I have now banned from my house, are benefiting from it. They're just having it done overseas because they can't get away with it here. I'm signing this thing. I don't care where it is. I have a puggle and a shih tzu who were both victims of attack and abandonment respectively. Watch or listen to the video. You have to get to it through the link though.
I'd also like to add that experimenting on animals is disgusting and should be stopped! There'd be no reason to stab a defenseless, still nursing puppy, or any other animal to death. Injecting them with chemicals, damaging their nervous systems... honestly the oxyconton injection seemed nothing more than for the purpose of making that one poor dog foam at the mouth and then be put to sleep. If you wanna test drugs for humans, they should be tested on! humans! I seriously can't put into words how sick and infuriated this all is! And fuck anyone who condones this behavior!
This is disgusting. I too have signed many, many patitions over the years for things I cared about, which have made news. I have known of other things, which were stopped by the patitions I chose to sign. So, Since I still sign patitions I care about, I'm signing this one. We can't all go to the UK and attempt to drag some of the animals out of these appalling conditions, the only things we can do are pray, if you believe in doing so, and spread the word. And, if it gets enough of our voices, this may be stopped. To me, that's all patitions are is yet another chance to make a difference for a cause you believe in.
Take Care,
Dawnielle
Sorry Leo, but on this one, you're wrong. You can check the link out and easily trace it to a credible alternative news source. Alternative news sources, by the way, don't mean that they're biased. They just find and cover stories that mainstream news won't pick up for one reason or another. You're right that people should do some research before being completely outraged about a topic such as this, but people should also do some research before they're quick to write it off as untrue. The earlier poster is right about te video--I saw it for myself. There's no faking that. To these people, it's not about humanity, its a job. They're neutral because they're getting paid. That's heartless. Have some ethics, I say to them.
And it's easy to say that petitions don't do anything so let's not sign them, but actually the more people that sign, the better chance you have of getting something done. Petions are read by officials contrary to popular belief, or at the very least, if enough people sign, the petition gets media attention which people can't ignore. It's the kidn of attitude that, I'd rather not sign because I'm not really helping, that makes petitions useless. Maybe some people can't act on a local level for a cause they care about. I, for instance, cant' adopt any animals from an animal shelter because we already have two guide dogs and little money to spare for taking in a pet. I use mostly homemade products anyway, so in that way I avoid a lot of animal-tested chemicals. But my point is, maybe all a person can do is sign a document. They just click, and sign. What's there to lose? Not much. And if there are, say, a million people who can't do anything but sign a petition, they're are a million who did sign and then it gets attention. Let's not bash petitions because the people signing the have nothing to lose by doing so
I'll stand corrected on this one. I saw the video and yes it is pretty sick.
What I want to know is, do people get into this kind of work knowing what they're getting into? Or do they get into it under the illusion that it's going to be something else and then find out?
Read Jane Goodall's books on chimps. I empathized with the guy in the last book who worked at a lab, and tried to do the best he could for them in a very bad situation. Couldn't leave because of kids at home and such. People who have not been in that situation of compromise have an easier time sitting back and judging with all the righteous fervor a zealot can muster.
I think the people that should be held accountable are the people on top. I was less concerned about what happened to the bodies afterwards: that was overplayed. It mainly concerned me what was happening to the animals while they were still alive and could feel it.
My dog was a rescue dog who was going to be killed the next day if we didn't get her. She was at the pound for three months and no one wanted her because she was a pit bull. So we got her. So I can say that there is much more than just signing a petition. I like what leo posted about the products who benefit from animal testing, nope. I don't know if aI could stand the youtube video. I'll give it a try
Cherry bomb wrote: If you wanna test drugs for humans, they should be tested on! humans!
What?????????????????????
You mean if you don't know whether or not a vaccine works, you'll test it on yourself? Or do you mean other humans? I'm pretty sure that in order to confirm that it works the test subject then has to be exposed to the virus. And let's not forget the control - for comparison the person who gets exposed to the virus without having been given the vaccine first. Do you think we'll treat human subjects any better than we treat the animals? Sorry, but I'm not signing up for this one.
I'm sorry, but I find myself agreeing with Cherry on this one. Just as there are studies for medications to treat various diseases, why should a vaccine be any different? Human subjects are selected on a voluntary basis, based on certain requirements usually, to test out experimental medications. If it's done for shit like endometriosis, arthritis, skin disease, AIDS, herpes, cancer, etc, why can't it be done for vaccines? Animals can't talk to us in the conventional sense to say how they're feeling or what the shit they're being injected with is doing to them. Humans can. And call me crazy if you want to, but I'd gladly volunteer for something that's supposed to better the prospects for our health, in place of an animal. Shit doesn't always work the same on animals as it does on humans anyway. So what? We keep experimenting on poor, defenseless animals and coming up with findings, only to discover when they're actually put to use on humans that they don't work the same? Then what's the point? Just because we're human our lives are more important? Nuh uh, don't think so. Let people be chosen based on whatever criteria is necessary to be tested for vaccines and whatever other shit, cosmetics and painkillers and whatever you will included, of their own free will. The arrogant race that is man has no right to subject animals who can't defend themselves and who have no say in the matter, to a life, however short, of suffering and agony, only to butcher them cruelly! Honestly, the vid... I watched it on a friend's laptop. And this looks like nothing more than sadistic entertainment for the psychopaths in this video, masked by the pretense of important research. The screams and cries of those puppies... made me sick! Those people are psychopaths, and anyone who condones, excuses, or turns their back on such behavior while making excuses for why it's necessary, isn't far off from being one too. Rant over... for now.
Ay fucking men to the previous poster. I'm posting this link to twitter right now. thank you for sharing. Those people in the video doing the testing on these animals and hurting them, should be the guinea pigs for whatever is being injected. this is absolutely sick!
Thank you, Joanne and Noelle. I love you both.
I agree. I would gladly be a tester for whatever crap they wanted to inject me with. Just because animals don't have a voice of their own does not make them proper candidates for testing. And, as one of the previous posters said, half the time meds don't work in the intended way in humans, after being tested on animals anyway.
Take care,
Dawnielle
I agree with the last few posters. I to would allow the tests, reguardless of the risks. At least we can tell the researcher what were feeling, animals can't. I haven't watched the youtube video, but don't know if I can. These people are so sick, and I'm such an animal lover. How can anyone think this is okay?
Another good cause to help animals. You sign the petition and get a varafication e-mail. Once you click the link from the e-mail your vote is counted. It only shows your location and your initials publicly.
